The 2610 High Performance Preform Analyzer is the product of over 35 years of preform measurement experience. The 2610 combines the preform handling and automated preform rotation and translation capabilities of the tank-based 2600 Preform Analyzer, with the accuracy and thermal stability of the cell-based P104 and P106 Preform Analyzers to provide fiber manufacturers with the ultimate in preform index profiling.

Fast preform loading combined with automated preform positioning facilitates rapid and comprehensive characterization of preform structure, even for large diameter preforms. From this profile data, the 2610 is able to calculate preform geometry metrics such as core diameter, preform outside diameter and concentricity. It is also able to calculate equivalent step-index profile parameters for the preform, which allows prediction of several drawn fiber properties. Preform tomography software that provides 3-D models of the preform is optionally available.
