2660 High Performance Preform Analyzer
Fully automated characterization with state-of-the-art precision and accuracy
The 2660 High Performance Preform Analyzer combines the preform handling and automated preform rotation and translation capabilities of the 2650 Preform Analyzer, with the accuracy and thermal stability of the cell-based P104 and P106 Preform Analyzers to provide fiber manufacturers with the ultimate in preform index profiling.
Fast preform loading combined with automated preform positioning facilitates rapid and comprehensive characterization of preform structure, even for large diameter preforms. From the profile data, the 2660 is able to calculate preform geometry metrics such as core diameter, preform outside diameter and concentricity. For single-mode fiber preforms, the profile data also yields equivalent step-index (ESI) profile parameters which enables prediction of the mode field diameter, cut-off wavelength and chromatic dispersion of the fiber that will be drawn from the preform. The alpha coefficient of multimode fiber preform profiles can be also be calculated. All calculations provide essential feedback for preform process control. Tomography software that produces high resolution 3-D preform models of the preform structure is optionally available.
