The 2820 Interferometric PMD System is the optimal PMD test solution for optical fiber and cable production. The 2820 utilizes the interferometric PMD measurement technique, the fastest PMD measurement method available, that allows the system to perform single-scan PMD measurements in less than 5 seconds. In addition to performing the fastest PMD measurements, the 2820 performs them using the patented, generalized interferometric (GINTY) method. It's widely recognized that the GINTY method offers more precise, and more versatile PMD measurement capability due to the fact that measurement results are not influenced by light source spectral shape or the degree of mode coupling in the fiber under test. For measurement applications where fiber PMD is extremely low, or where the user wants to minimize the uncertainty inherent in single-scan PMD measurements, the 2820-CRS option for the 2820 provides continuous random scrambling of both input and output producing a more complete PMD measurement with dramatically reduced uncertainty.
