8000i OTDR Station

Cost-effective OTDR capability for in-process testing of optical fiber cable components

Full Description

The 8000i Station is the most recent addition to Photon Kinetics' family of innovative solutions for optical fiber cable testing. The 8000i Station's "cable test" design provides the optimal balance of OTDR dynamic range and dead zone performance that's most effective for accurate characterization of typical optical fiber cable lengths. Dynamic range is maximized to reduce measurement time, while resolution is tuned to ensure that any cable optical defects are detected. The 8000i Station delivers this optimized measurement capability at a more economical price than our full featured, final QC 8000 OTDR and in a portable package more suitable for making measurements in the production area. This makes the 8000i Station a perfect fit for in-process testing of cable components such as fiber ribbons and loose tubes. The 8000i Station can be connected to the fiber under test with low optical loss via a Photon Kinetics 1120 Bare Fiber Aligner or similar customer-supplied coupling device. Standard configurations include 1310, 1550, 1490 and 1625 nm single-mode, and 850 and 1300 nm multimode OTDR.
